Job Description

The fundamental responsibilities of the Manager of RF and High Speed design include:

  • Management of technology
    • Collaboration with business categories to build a technology roadmap and long-term development plan
    • Refinement and formalization of performance expectations for widely ranging RF subsystems and product types
    • Wireless protocol evolution (such as Bluetooth application specific profiles)
  • Management of development methods and processes
    • Evolution of critical aspects of the development process, such as: design guidelines, performance standards, evaluation methods, simulation tools, best practices
    • Abstraction of RF subsystems (such as low level software: algorithms, settings, drivers)
    • Integration of hardware needs into software development
  • Management of staff
    • Project resource estimation, planning, and assignment
    • Staff development and professional growth
    • Growth of expertise to support future needs (hiring, training, consulting)

 

Examples of specific tasks that would be undertaken:

  • Evolution of the capability to evaluate performance of RF subsystems: sensitivity, frequency response, polar response, interference response, link performance, variance across environmental extremes, customer usage
  • Leading the strategy for architecture of RF and high speed subsystems across hardware, software, and systems
  • Leading and/or participating in additional work-streams targeted at improving overall product development capabilities. These may be internal such as electrical design review process or cross organizational such as the production test development process
  • Collaboration with suppliers for development of SOC based designs solutions, including wireless protocol evolution

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred)
  • 10+ years electronic product design, analysis, and leadership experience
  • Track record of successful management of teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with design of RF and/or high speed subsystems at the component/PCB level

 

Skills and experience that would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of fundamental technology relevant to consumer electronic products (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, digital audio, digital video)
  • Design and development of consumer electronic products
  • Design for operation with cellular phone networks
  • Streaming audio or video applications
  • Design using high speed simulation tools
