Job Description

GTRI’s Cooperative Education (“co-op”) program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.

GTRI’s Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Laboratory seeks co-ops or full-time interns for the spring 2020 semester. Co-ops will be working with the Secure Information Systems Division as manual test engineers for Java-based web applications. The primary function will be developing, maintaining, and executing manual test cases. Students will also have an opportunity to interface with other student employees, as well as professionals, while developing test cases used for the lab’s cutting-edge science and engineering research projects. Students will be introduced to concepts in software requirements, development, configuration management, and cybersecurity.

Required Minimum Qualifications

     Co-op

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Completion of two semesters of curriculum by co-op start date
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
  • Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation

     Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Completion of two semesters of curriculum by co-op start date
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM
  • Familiarity of JAMA and JIRA
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools

Hours per Week

40 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
