Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Reporting to the RPM Engineering Section Manager, the Engineer Manager will be responsible for managing the efforts of part of the Manufacturing Engineering group alongside another Engineering Manager. The Engineering department comprises of various disciplines including Manufacturing / Producibility Engineering, Tool Design, NC programming, and CMM programming. These teams lead producibility efforts driving engineering changes, generate fixture design approaches and methods supporting complex high precision metal part machining, assembly and inspection. Candidates for this position will be expected to:
  • Direct day-to-day activities for the Methods, Producibility, Tool Design, or NC/CMM programming groups within Engineering. These groups
  • Provide direct engineering support via the engineering organization to RPM factory operations.
  • Evaluate staffing, equipment, and processes needed to accomplish engineering and organizational objectives.
  • Apply modern engineering methods (such as lean manufacturing concepts and six-sigma methodology) to continuously improve efficiency of manufacturing processes, increase productivity and improve competitiveness.
  • Analyze and recommend utilization of technological innovations in material, machinery and manufacturing techniques/methodologies to solve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex manufacturing problems.
  • Prepare plans, schedules, and personnel requirements for executing new engineering projects. Initiate, direct, and perform work required to complete these projects.
  • Analyze new product and quote packages for manufacturing suitability at Precision Manufacturing. Assist in generating proposal packages to support the quoting effort (Basis of Estimates, Bill of Materials, Risk management).
  • Maintain technical awareness in advancements of engineering technology in manufacturing.
  • Guide the development of manufacturing solutions and processes to produce high-complexity metal components that are cost effective and meet all quality requirements.
  • Interact with Raytheon and external company employees including all levels of Precision Manufacturing management, project design engineers, supply chain, supplier representatives, and technical vendors.
  • Work safely every day supporting efforts to maintain an injury free work place.
Required skills:
  • A minimum of 8 years manufacturing experience in a machining environment.
  • Experience with production planning of metal products including tasks such as work instruction generation, tooling conceptualization, process flow generation/analysis, labor estimating, and technical process documentation.
  • Experience in understanding, analyzing and applying GD&T for machined hardware.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of machining/assembly/inspection processes for multi-axis machined parts.
  • The ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
Desired skills:
  • Ability to interface effectively with machinists, support groups, customers, and upper management
  • Direct experience managing or providing technical direction to one or more of the process technologies contained with machining and/or fabrication operations.
  • Performance development experience related to team career development, annual performance reviews, hiring/disciplinary responsibilities.
  • Experience with the following software systems/tools: SAP/PRISM, Pro-Engineer/Creo, Siemens NX, Microsoft Project, PC-DMIS, Visual Basic
  • Experience generating and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)
  • Experience with proposal activities including business pursuit, proposal generation, gating processes, labor estimates, risk identification/management, and earned value reporting.
  • Experience with aluminum vacuum brazing and/or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience operating in DoD classified environments
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree required in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Preferred Degree in Engineering.172756
