What Your Job Will Be Like:



Do you have a curiosity about defense and national security? Are you motivated by making creative contributions to multiple programs in a national R&D laboratory? Become the next Mechanical Technologist providing mechanical expertise for space payloads on the product engineering team! This is an opportunity to provide support to a high visibility program area managing the full range of modern remote sensing space system payloads and ground system software. Improved design, development, realization, and quality are major focuses of our program.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Support engineering efforts across all phases of projects spanning from conceptual-design studies to assembly, build, and test



+ Handle a wide variety of roles and responsibilities in a collaborative work environment





Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.







Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology or other related STEM field, or Associate's Degree in Engineering technology plus 2 years of relevant experience



+ Experience with requirements and product realization processes for space-based hardware



+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Experience using various equipment such as common hardware tools, measurement gages, torque wrenches, temperature chambers, voltmeters, frequency counters, power meters, and oscilloscopes



+ Experience with mechanical design, analysis and troubleshooting



+ Ability to understand mechanical drawings and dimensional call outs



+ Ability to exhibit initiative and collaboration and work independently in a high energy team environment with high changing priorities



+ Ability to prioritize and balance competing activities



+ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills



+ Ability to have positive interactions with mechanical design engineers, systems engineers, configuration management, program management, and quality, purchasing, and supply partners



+ Active DOE clearance





About Our Team:



The Remote Sensing Systems Group (06780) provides the competencies vital to harnessing and developing the world’s best technologies, practices, and suppliers for realizing advanced remote sensing systems. The RSS Group leads and implements the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and delivery of the Global Burst Detection (GBD) Program Satellite Payloads. We provide a broad competency base of needed skills for the development of advanced satellite payloads, ND support needs, and other WFO programs. We can use our unique capabilities and team to provide end-to-end program needs. Embedded within the group are strengths in: analog/digital design, embedded electronic design, software design, electronic fabrication and testing, optical science and design of optical sensor systems, power systems, test and integration using space environmental test capabilities, and system tester development.

Security Clearance:
