Apple is seeking a highly motivated and highly versatile individual with deep knowledge and passion for memory devices and sub-systems. In this highly visible role, you will shape the future of memory sub- systems for Apple products. You will be a member of Platform Architecture team, working closely with SoC architecture and other cross-functional teams at Apple, as well as with external memory suppliers to drive the definition of future generations of memory devices. This role will utilize your excellent coding skills and deep knowledge of memory systems to evaluate and explore architectural solutions for a variety of future memory devices and systems using Apple's architectural modeling tools and platforms. You will devise and carry out various HW characterizations on memory systems to gain insights and validate results. You will participate in memory standardization committee meetings on behalf of Apple and closely monitor and influence future memory standard specification developments

Key Qualifications

  • - Strong knowledge of DRAM device specifications, architectures, and circuit technique
  • - Strong knowledge of memory controller and PHY architectures and circuits and related performance and power trade-offs
  • - Demonstrated ability to perform architectural modeling evaluations of memory systems
  • - Demonstrated ability to setup and operate computer HW measurement platforms for memory system characterization
  • - Strong C/C++ programming experience and scripting skill
  • - Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly articulate conclusions
  • - Knowledge of computer architecture techniques and trade-offs

Description
- Work closely with Apple cross-functional teams to understand current and future requirements for memory systems
- Perform detailed architectural modeling evaluations of future memory devices and sub-systems using Apple's modeling tools and platforms
- Carry out HW characterization measurements of various performance and power aspects of memory subsystems to help drive and validate architectural studies
- Make recommendations on key tradeoffs that drive future memory device and sub-system specification
- Author and maintain relevant memory device specifications and work closely with memory suppliers on implementation
- Participate in memory standardization committees meetings on behalf of Apple and help shape the future development of memory specifications standards

Education & Experience

MS or PhD in CS, EE, or related fields
