Metadata is at the heart of Apple Media Products (AMP), powering key aspects of the customer experience including UI, search, and Siri. Metadata Operation is responsible for ensuring world-class quality and discoverability of AMP metadata. As a project manager, you will play a central role in delivering new metadata-driven features that will improve the customer experience of our TV and movie products. You will partner closely with the business and engineering teams to define initial requirements and drive new features to completion. You will be required to understand the inner-workings of our products and implement technical and tactical solutions to boost our operational effectiveness

Key Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the digital media or technology industry
  • Project management experience including working cross-functionally and leading requirements gathering processes and status review meetings
  • A deep understanding of complex large-scale media content management systems and how metadata affects the user experience
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands in the data
  • Experience parsing large structured and unstructured datasets and visualizing them in a digestible format for the audience
  • Ability to draw meaningful insights from datasets and translate into high level strategy and actionable tasks
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, sharp observation skills and the ability to see how the details fit into the big picture
  • Experience working with engineering teams and successfully driving tool implementation from conceptualization to launch
  • Experience partnering with external vendors and suppliers on data integration projects
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, adaptable to rapidly changing requirements, decisive and willing to own the hard calls
  • Ability to facilitate productive discussions, build consensus within team and with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively interact and influence across all levels of organization
  • Functional experience with modeling/development software and platforms such as Python, Pandas, Jupyter Notebook, Spark, Tableau
  • Experience with Flask or Javascript web app and/or API development a plus
  • Passion for TV, Movies and other video content

Description

Acquire a deep understanding of our data pipeline, from ingestion, integration to consumption, as well as our data management tools

Conduct assessments on our catalog to identify coverage and quality challenges; develop data-driven solutions to address these challenges at a large scale

Identify, evaluate and procure potential internal and external solutions to improve our catalog health

Onboard data suppliers for integration into our catalog; ensure compliance to strict quality standards and technical specifications

Work closely with Engineering teams to implement new tooling and enhancements. Recognize and act on opportunities for automation

Gather and define feature requirements, propose solutions, obtain buy-ins, negotiate timelines and track implementation progress

Develop project KPIs to measure success and regularly report on status

Run user acceptance tests to ensure new features and enhancement requests are implemented as expected

Build collaborative relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders

Identify and tackle opportunities to enrich and drive metadata quality across various content types and platforms while considering long term impact

Education & Experience

BA/BS and 8+ years experience in the digital media or technology industry
