Mission Support & Sustainment Systems Engineer

The Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

As a Mission Support & Sustainment Systems Engineer based out of Tucson, AZ. youll assist with executing tasks in the areas of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Sustainment Planning, Logistics Management, Training, and/or Technical Documentation.

Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Assisting in gathering data to track trends that help inform leadership of Sustainment activity
  • Assisting in presenting and participating in Program Reviews, external customer meetings and team status meetings
  • Monitoring and prioritizing critical shipments for consumable materials, tools and/or spares for global deployment
  • Data gathering and analysis for the planning and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance events for systems deployed globally
  • Assisting in developing ILS strategies for various programs as they transition from development or production into sustainment
  • Development and maintenance of Technical documentation including:
    • System functional theory
    • Operations
    • Preventative and corrective maintenance
    • Schematics
    • Illustrated parts breakdowns from compiled engineering technical reports
    • Drawings and parts lists
    • Train-the-trainer courses
    • Identification of required student Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), and Programs of Instruction (POIs).
  • Participation in IETM validation including customer conferences to ensure manuals conform to contract requirements, identification of supplier manual content requirements, budget and schedule compliance and the conduct of peer reviews.
  • Development of illustrations, graphics and flow diagrams to support contract deliverable documentation
  • Supporting the development of a technical data packages (TDP)
  • Assisting in the development of integrated logistics support plans

Up to 10% to 15% domestic and international travel could be required for this role.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

This position can be a Grade G07 or a Grade G08 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, education and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Skills
  • 2+ years relevant experience in in systems engineering, documentation, manufacturing, and/or logistics.
    • At a Grade G07, a relevant Master's Degree may be considered for this job.
    • At a Grade G08, 2+ years of experience in the aforementioned areas and a relevant Master's Degree may be considered for this job.
  • US citizenship is required.

Desired Skills
  • Experience with the Agile development process/environment
  • Experience building strong cross-functional organizational effectiveness, developing technical documentation and managing geographically dispersed organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise cultural sensitivity
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and MS Project
  • Experience with XML based IETM editors such as ArborText or Eagle Publishing System (EPS)
  • Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Captivate
  • Experience with augmented and/or virtual reality development
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS)
  • Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain processes and procedures

Required Education
BS in a STEM discipline or BA in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics.
