The Air Surveillance Command and Control (C2) Systems Department assists in the design and development of tactical air defense systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and US international allies. Work includes major airborne and ground-based radar and battle management integration projects in development or undergoing modification and enhancement of critical capabilities. MITREs Air Surveillance C2 Systems Department solves the most pressing challenges facing the Air Force by architecting systems in the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), battle planning and management, and command and control (BMC2) domains.

Key Functions:


Apply analytical engineering principles to support acquisition strategy development, design of system technical requirements, and identification and mitigation of technical risks


Develop methodologies to assess effectiveness of a variety of multi-domain kill chains associated with detecting, tracking, and identifying a target


Provide analytical approaches to assess benefits of system/platform additions and legacy upgrades for mission effectiveness integrating new data into tracking, identification, and displays


Develop and present prototypes and system models to help customers frame emerging technology trends to increase affordability, efficiency, and effectiveness


Required Qualifications:


Academic and/or professional experience with digital signal processing and stochastic processes

Experience with MATLAB or equivalent mathematical computation, modeling, and simulation tool.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including technical writing


Desired Qualifications:


Experience with estimation algorithms (e.g., Kalman filtering, neural networks, clustering, pattern recognition)

Academic and/or professional experience with non-linear system theory, detection, and estimation 

Proficiency in MATLAB

Proficiency in a programming language (Java, C/C++, Python)

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math or related field
