The Engineering Directorate, Instrument Systems and Technology Division, Microwave Instrument and Technology Branch (Code 555) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is seeking an Electronics Engineer. This position will perform work with electronic instrumentation systems in the microwave through sub-millimeter wave used for detecting, recording, measuring, or controlling physical conditions, phenomena, and environments for Earth and space science programs. 

The duties described below are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

As an Electronics Engineer specializing in Microwave Instrumentation Systems, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, testing, and conducting performance validation of electronic instrumentation systems used for detecting, recording, measuring, or controlling physical conditions, phenomena, and environments in Earth and space science programs. You will perform electronics engineering design and development work in microwave through sub-millimeter wave. You will design or direct the development of leading-edge technologies, components or instrument systems to meet specific mission requirements. You will serve as a technical specialist in the field of high frequency electronics, executing complex designs on various advanced electronics projects. You will plan and coordinate assignments with other agencies and contractors to ensure full integration of technical and operational requirements. Design requirements and other guidelines are often incomplete or uncertain in nature, requiring you to extend existing concepts to meet the given situation. You will consider environmental performance criteria under which systems must operate.

You will guide and evaluate contractor efforts and assess technical progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allotted. You will reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy. You will report progress and/or problems. You will direct necessary changes, resolve complex problems, assure conformance to plans and specifications. You will provide technical assistance as required for the design, development, integration, and evaluation of instrument systems. You will perform additional data systems and analysis work. You will also be responsible for electronic systems test and evaluation.
