We have an opening for a Production Control Manager. You will provide technical leadership and administrative supervision to a team of Production Control Specialists performing core production and inventory management, planning, and control. This position is in the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science (NIF & PS) Principal Directorate within NIF Facility Operations.

Essential Duties
- Provide technical supervision and leadership to the Production Control Specialist team performing production and inventory management, planning, and all aspects of production control activities supporting NIF operations.
- Mentor and set direction for the team on resolving issues impacting production control processes, including work/install/remove orders, kit lists, site repository maintenance, material and order management, engineering and manufacturing bills of material (EBoMs and MBoMs), routes for refurbishment and other activities, and product change impact analysis.
- Provide strategic guidance in the development of new projects requiring material planning, tracking, and process flow strategies for implementing Glovia. Oversee all aspects of lifecycle development, including requirement definition with customers, initial ERP implementation, and integration of software into production.
- Demonstrate originality in solving complex issues, production inventory management, planning, and control issues where a high degree of ambiguity exists on techniques and approaches and innovative effective ways.
- Provide software requirements to and coordinate with NIF Shot Data Systems for Glovia customizations that improve usability. Revise custom Superlayer/Pro-IV code as requested by NIF Shot Data Systems.
- Develop training plans and implement a cross-training and on-going skills training program that improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the NIF Operations and Production Control teams. Train and assist other technicians and engineers in ERP capabilities and data-input.
- Act as key strategic decision maker and leader in developing overall tactical business processes for requirements, evaluations, and interaction with project personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent level of education and related experience.
- Certificate of Associate-Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (APICS) or equivalent certification(s) relating to production and inventory management.
- Expert knowledge of and experience using ERP/MRP, as evidenced by presentations, publications (internal or otherwise), mentoring others, etc.
- Significant experience in a production or logistics position at a senior level, including developing and directing complex material handling and tracking processes.
- Experience supervising and leading groups in defining business processes, creating work order structures and overall material handling plans; leading engineering teams through difficulties of initial ERP implementation on new projects.
- Extensive experience in production planning, execution, inventory management, planning, control activities, using material planning, tracking, kitting, and other flow strategies and control systems.
- Extensive knowledge using the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and the Glovia Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Demonstrated strong effective verbal and written communication skills internal and external to the Laboratory.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include shiftwork, weekends, and/or on-call service.

Desired Qualifications
- Functional understanding of engineering and design processes.
- Understanding of the end-to-end process of NIF shot-cycle operations and design-to-deployment of NIF upgrades; ability to apply this understanding in effort to improve overall NIF efficiencies.
- Understanding of NIFs site repository, with its configuration and use of smart-locs, cleaning specifications to anticipate which cleaning methods will be applied to various types of materials.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
