Job Description

Intel's novel device research team is looking for an innovative and motivated transistor integration engineer to lead small team developing and fabricating novel semiconductor device prototypes based on two-dimensional or other novel materials in both lab and 300mm environments.

You will be responsible for:

  • Fabrication of device prototypes, metrology and device measurements as needed to understand root cause solutions.
  • Communicating and identifying process integration challenges and solutions to a wider audience.
  • Development and proof of models along with the necessary measurements to advance the understanding of device physics.
  • Identifying correlations between device measurements and fabrication processes to improve device performance by partnering with module engineers and finding novel solutions
  • Working with various business units and clearly communicating findings to non-experts.
  • The transfer of viable technology options to the internal technology development team.
  • Advancing your knowledge of state-of-the-art process development principles and theories.
  • Contribution to technical journals, conferences, and patent applications relevant to the process technology.
  • Where applicable, own lab metrology tools to further our understanding of device prototypes.


About the team and organization (CR):
Intel's Components Research (CR) delivers innovative process technologies and architectures to enable Intel's roadmap. The primary goal of the Novel Device Research Team in CR is to deliver viable game-changing device options, including new materials, and new process integration schemes for Intel product differentiation.


Qualifications

You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork and research and/or relevant previous job including internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:
PhD degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

1+ year of professional or academic experience in the following areas:

  • Prototype device fabrication and integrating novel materials in the lab or the fab
  • Process impact on performance of semiconductor devices
  • Experimental work on two-dimensional semiconductors
  • Test, characterization, and data analysis of nano electronic devices
  • Design of experiment, statistical analysis methods and analysis software


Preferred Requirements:
1+ year of professional or academic experience in the following areas

  • State-of-the-art CMOS process
  • Using metrology analysis such as Raman, XPS, SEM, AFM, etc.
  • Technical process knowledge of ALD, PVD, CVD, epitaxial growth and dry etches
  • Transistor device physics and modeling
  • Reliability of semiconductor devices

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
