The Network Platforms Group (NPG) is one of Intel's fastest growing business units, leading the World on innovative 5G Solutions with a strategy to democratize Networking Infrastructure with Intel Architecture (IA) through Network Functions Virtualization and Virtualized Radio Access Networks. This enables the transformation of networking solutions from purpose built / proprietary architectures to the world of standard off-the-shelf servers where software primarily defines the features which then unleashes lower CAPEX/OPEX and higher flexibility to the Communications Service Providers, like Verizon and T-Mobile.

The NPG Product Quality and Reliability Team is responsible for the quality and reliability of NPG Products from Pre-Silicon through Post-Production. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Product Reliability Engineer responsible for the reliability assessment that will drive NPG products to meet our committed Quality and Reliability goals and delight NPG customers. Microelectronic Quality and Reliability Engineers provide project management, product, process design/development and sustaining support for integrated circuit or semiconductor assemblies, various other electronic components, sub systems and/or completed units.

As the NPG Product Quality and Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Demonstrating physical understanding, model prediction and enhancement of quality and reliability for advanced products, transistor, interconnect, assembly/package and testing process.
  • Define Si/assembly/package qualification requirements and responsible for product qualification or technology certification.
  • Define, develop and conduct stress tests, design requirements and research on individual technology components as well as integrated circuit and products.
  • Develop cost effective production monitoring and screening schemes to ensure process is stable and products meet committed quality and reliability performance.
  • Develop, apply, and maintain quality and reliability standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Evaluate the materials, processes, and techniques used in production to meet the requirement of products and production equipment.
  • Specify inspection and testing mechanism, conduct quality assessment (up to and including audits), and perform statistical analysis to determine the responsibility for products and systems that do not meet required specifications.
  • Deliver standardization in product qualification, manufacturing quality systems, and methods.
  • Provide feedback to business units, technology development teams, and/or partner engineering groups on design or method and statistical process control procedures including manufacturing systems in high volume manufacturing.
  • Determine reliability requirements and automated screening methodologies of components and systems to achieve company, customer, and any governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • Develop new acceleration techniques, analytical tools, and quality screens to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product quality/reliability.
  • Respond to customer requests or events as they occur.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must possess at least one of the following degrees plus the years of experience determined for each degree in the areas specified below 

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics or a related field of study.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in basic device physics and statistical data analysis using software like JMP.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of circuit reliability.
  • Knowledge of reliability degradation mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of radiation-induced reliability degradation mechanisms.
