Job Description
The new Open Source Community and Evangelism team within Intel's Software and Advanced Technology Group (SATG) is a center of excellence, leading the articulation and dissemination within Intel of community-facing open source best practices and behaviors. We are looking for a person to help Intel define and achieve success in its open source efforts. This role will help to improve Intel's participation in and contributions to open source, by directly leading or guiding and mentoring others in their work with and participation in open source communities. In this role you will: Help Intel develop and track metrics to measure success in upstream and Intel-led open source projects. Lead creation of "community playbooks" for Intel communities and contributors to follow to engage with external developers and projects. Assist in planning for the full lifecycle of projects - from inception, project launch all the way to retirement of projects that are no longer actively developed. Liaise with upstream projects and external stakeholders to understand how Intel is perceived and how Intel can contribute more effectively with major projects. Lead creation of community dashboards to observe key metrics around community engagement and contributions. Help internal stakeholders align on goals and define what success looks like, to maximize the impact of Intel contributions to open source. Track progress of key open source projects and consult with teams to improve results or curtail investment as appropriate. Participate directly in key projects as a non-technical contributor when needed. Internal stakeholder engagement and alignment. Establish regular cadence of reports and summaries around Intel's open source contributions for internal stakeholders. Create external content around Intel contributions to open source, major milestones, open source strategy and other messaging as needed. Create and maintain open source training materials for Intel contributors to help understand how to contribute upstream, "care and feeding" of open source projects, and more. An ideal candidate would exhibit behavioral skills that indicate: Excellent customer interaction and strong verbal/written communication skills. Technically flexible and diverse - able to swiftly adapt to the changing needs of the organization and have a broad knowledge spanning beyond individual projects. Experienced at working across organizational boundaries, geographies and working with people from different cultural backgrounds. Comfortable with asynchronous communication, which includes documenting what you do and learn for your teammates and the wider organization - you will be part of a globally-dispersed team, and it won't always be easy to communicate face-to-face (even virtually). Ability to be self-directed and work independently.
