The Skunk Works is looking for world-class talent in mission systems engineering to join the 75 year tradition of creating advanced aircraft

This position is with the Advanced Development Programs U-2 Program in Palmdale, CA. This position requires an experienced hardware engineer to work with Software and Avionics teams to define, develop and integrate Open Mission Systems (OMS) subsystems and capabilities. Hardware and software teams will be adopting modern technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop, integrate, and test OMS software products that must also integrate with legacy avionics functions, requiring adaptation and bridge development

As part of a significant avionics and mission systems upgrade, the candidate will define and implement a system-level open systems hardware architecture and individual hardware units through performing trade studies, working with sub-tier hardware suppliers to meet contract and technical requirements, and integrating new avionics and mission systems components with existing aircraft systems.

Candidate responsibilities will span the technology development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system and software design and implementation, integration and flight test support. Integration activities with other team members will include multiple mission systems in laboratory environments and on the aircraft

***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and an Interim Secret clearance required to start.***

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience with avionics systems
• Experience with supplier hardware/software integration

Desired skills
• Familiarity with VITA standards, especially VPX (VITA 46.*), OpenVPX (VITA 65), and related standards
• Familiarity with a range of processing elements: CPU, GPU, FPGA, SoC, etc
• Familiarity with fiber optic interconnects
• Ability to work with suppliers to set and meet contractual requirements
• Knowledge of digital, analog, and discrete signal interfaces
• Knowledge of the Ethernet electrical interface standard
