We are looking for an exceptional candidate to work in a fast-paced environment developing start of the art optical and opto-mechanical design for next generation optical products and contribute to Intel Silicon Photonics Product Division's mission to transform and lead Data Center optical connectivity and enable Intel's differentiation in the networking space.

As the module team optical packaging engineer in our Silicon Photonics Research and Development organization, the individual will be responsible for and contribute to developing optical design, architecture, and components for SPPD's next generation products.

As an Optical Design and Packaging Engineer, you'll be part of Intel's Silicon Photonics team that is leading the data rate transition and driving innovation for next generation of optical interconnect products. You will collaborate with multiple teams to develop the product that meets or exceeds product requirements.

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- As a team member in developing architecture and optical packaging design for state-of-the-art Silicon Photonics SiPh devices and assemblies.
- Drive the optical package designs and technology selection by assessing and mitigating risks associated with the product designs.
- Work with cross-functional groups to drive optical package requirements. Design from concept to volume production to meet the performance, reliability, manufacture, and cost requirements.
- Perform design, tolerance and yield analysis and simulation of optical/opto-mechanical components, subassemblies and systems.
- Generate optical and opto-mechanical component specifications. Support layouts and assembly design for product and tooling.
- Lead and support developing test setup, test method, and test flow to validate the optical design and characterize optical devices/components. Trouble shooting during product bring up, analyzing data to optimize yield.
- Drive customer sample build and delivery to achieve design win.
