What Your Job Will Be Like:



Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an Patent Prosecution Attorney for its Legal Technology Transfer Center. The patent prosecution will focus on Sandia’s innovative technologies throughout the electromagnetic spectrum; cybersecurity; research, development, and design of electrical, optical, and mechanical components; and nuclear weapon design and assurance. You will also support technology transfer activities including non-disclosure agreements.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Manage a patent docket and prepare and prosecute Sandia patent applications.



+ Provide legal advice and assistance in all matters involving or relating to intellectual property issues, policies and procedures.



+ Counsel on technology innovation patentability.



+ Counsel on information protection activities including non-disclosure agreements.



+ Routinely advise management and staff and engage at all levels of the company.



+ Interact with corporate counsel, DOE/NNSA counsel, and outside counsel.



+ Advise management on complex projects and intellectual property legal matters in order to anticipate, identify, and protect the corporation against legal liability.





Qualifications We Require:





+ A U.S. law degree from an ABA accredited law school, admission to practice in at least one U.S. state and current registration with the USPTO is required.



+ Excellent academic qualifications with at least ten (10) years of law firm and/or in-house patent prosecution experience.



+ Master or PhD degree in electrical engineering, physics or a relevant science or engineering discipline.



+ The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Security Clearance:



Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
