Responsibilities:
The Jr. Payroll Accountant will be responsible to assist the payroll team with preparing Payroll Financials and entering the results into the General Ledger. Responsibilities also include account reconciliation, accrual analysis, and calculations of tax liabilities for all Federal and State institutions. Strong system and analytical skills are also needed for preparing reports and analyzing changes. 

•Analyze General Ledger (GL) accounts and prepare journal entries as requested for Payroll Financials and assist with the maintenance and tracking of journal entry documentation. 
•Conduct monthly account reconciliation and accrual analysis. 
•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports along with analysis of changes. 
•Close and archive payroll financials in a timely manner. 
•Maintain checkbook ledger with all check runs for calculating tax liability for all Federal and State institutions. 
•Determine and verify items such as but not limited to vacation, MBOs, incentives, stock grants, wage reclassification, and taxable wages.
•Prepare payroll payouts and balance sheet adjustments.  
•Performs other related duties as required or requested to meet departmental and business needs.
•Adheres to all company, departmental and client policies, procedures and requirements. Maintains clearances and licenses as required for position based upon assignment. 
•Completes assigned training on time and with acceptable scores. Demonstrates understanding of training materials and applies knowledge in appropriate situations.
 
Required Skills and Knowledge:

•Clearances as required by contract assignment.
•Ability to report daily onsite for 4 hour shift, preferably 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills  
•Must have strong systems skills, including experience working with mid-level accounting packages and reporting packages/query tools, (Excel, Access, Open Systems Accounting Software) - Preferred: Excel pivot tables and write large queries for large data sets 
•Requires strong communication skills, able to interface with all levels in the organization 
•Ability to analyze account variances and business processes, then effectively communicate results. 
•Self-motivated and results oriented  
•Uses sound judgement 
 

Physical Requirements
•Performs duties in a busy standard office environment with moderate noise level.
•Sits or stands at a desk during scheduled shift, reaching as needed to use office equipment.
•Makes and returns calls using an office phone system.
•Views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
•Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed).
•Types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard and mouse.
•Occasionally lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 10 pounds.
Education and Experience:
Experience:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree with a related degree, or an equivalent competence gained through a combination of education and experience 
•This position requires a minimum of 2-4 years with relevant GL accounting experience.
•Experience in general ledger/financial analysis
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with mid to upper tier Accounting software programs and advanced knowledge of Excel (Formulas, Templates, V-Look ups, Pivot Tables)
