What Your Job Will Be Like:



We are seeking a Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Technologist to assist with the scoping/definition, creation, submission, and implementation of engineering design documents (CAD drawings and technical specifications) of complex perimeter (aka PIDAS) and interior intrusion detection systems!



Using your experience drafting engineering features like building structures, retaining walls, power distribution systems, security vehicle barriers, HVAC systems, site development/grading, AND experience creating construction documents like engineering design drawings and technical specifications, you will work with engineers and technologists to develop clear, concise, and buildable designs. The implementation phase may be performed by Sandia personnel, by subcontractor personnel, or could be a combination of both.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Develop and maintain company drawings, templates, and standards.



+ Create new schematic drawings from scratch and make the necessary changes to existing drawings.



+ Read/understand schematics, design prints and technical/repair manuals or documents.



+ Collaborate closely with the project manager, engineers and Senior CADD technicians to receive instructions, guidance and resolve design issues.



+ Calculate material quantities to advise cost estimates.



+ Travel as required





During ideal operations, interested candidates should expect 50% of their time will be spent generating CAD documents with the other 50% of the time spent in the field performing surveys, field testing, or assisting with PSS implementation that could involve incorporating as-built conditions to CAD documents. During surge design projects, the percentage of CAD time may be higher. Candidates that enjoy a balance between indoor CAD/Computer work and outdoor hands-on activities are ideal.



This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.



Qualifications We Require:





+ 5 years' experience with creating, modifying and coordinating engineering drawings and specification documents for electrical, communications (Fiber), networks, civil, mechanical, or structural systems that have been fabricated or built.



+ Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and Solidworks-Electrical



+ Experience with other architectural/engineering CAD fields like electrical, mechanical, architectural, and pre-engineered specialty security components



+ The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
