Design, implement, and support DevOps solutions for RMD Software Engineers who support our global customer programs. Develop, Refine, and shape the future technology infrastructure that will allow our Engineers to bring innovative solutions to our customer with greater speed and efficiency!

This critical role in RMD Digital Technology is an exciting opportunity to join our growing DevOps and Classified Engineering Solutions organization as a DevOps Engineer. The primary responsibility for this position is to design, implement and support DevOps solutions for our key programs based in Tewksbury, MA (with less frequent work in other Boston area and US sites as well).

Responsibilities include:
  • Leverage company best practices and capabilities to assist programs with deployment, implementation, modernization and support of DevSecOps software solutions
  • Support software tool customization and automation including development of templates, dashboards and scripts to support program needs
  • Assist engineering teams with development and support of software build/test pipeline automation and integration, optimizing for performance and scalability across both cloud and on premise computing environments
  • Administer and maintain the security and compliance of tooling solutions including hardening, patching and version upgrades
  • Maximize solution performance and reliability through proactive, automated testing and issue mitigation while minimizing impacts associated with ongoing system patching and upgrades
  • Provision new projects, software configuration repositories and user access
  • Research and provide recommendations on new solutions and capabilities, and develop migration strategies for effective adoption
  • Provide guidance on software engineering tool hardware infrastructure resource requirements
  • Provide documentation of implemented DevOps environments by authoring procedures, work instructions and program profile documents
  • This role will be located on site in Tewksbury, MA and will occasionally require on-site support for programs in the greater Boston area and other US sites

    Minimum Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in IT/STEM degree and minimum of 8 years of direct experience, or a Master degree in IT/STEM and 6 years of direct experience. In lieu of degree must have additional 8 years of experience for a total of 16 years of experience
  • Experience with container technology (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, Tanzu)
  • Experience with deploying and supporting software and solutions within virtualized environments (VMWare, Nutanix), preferably with cloud experience (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with Virtual machine and container hardening and vulnerability analysis
  • Experience developing and implementing scripting and automation capabilities, preferably with infrastructure as code platforms (Ansible, Chef, Terraform, etc.)
  • Experience supporting modern DevOps toolchains using products such as Jira, Git, Confluence, Coverity and Jenkins
  • US Citizen Status is required as this this position will need a DoD Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

    Highly Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience ensuring system reliability and continuity by developing and validating fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans for tool infrastructure
  • Experience with Platform One DevSecOps platform toolchains and capabilities
  • Experience software development and configuration management experience
  • Experience with deployment and support of microservices architectures and solutions
  • Experience/Familiarity with other engineering tools such as IBM ClearCase and/or ClearQuest, DOORS, MATLAB
  • Experience with Splunk or similar platforms for data mining, ingestion, analytics and reporting capability
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex tool and system operational performance issues with services and devices spanning multiple network boundaries
  • Experience and familiarity with relational databases and ability to support/troubleshoot data backup, verification and validation activities for server based tools and solutions
  • Familiarity with Agile concepts and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of networking and system administration concepts to enable application issue resolution and performance tuning
  • Experience in a technical support role with a passion for helping others
  • Highly organized with strong interpersonal and communication skills
