ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Procurement Specialist works on purchasing projects of moderate to diverse complexity and scope.  Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate actions.  Follows established guidelines and interprets policies effectively.  Evaluate unique circumstances and ability to discuss issues and makes recommendations. Gets advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

The Procurement Specialist works on purchasing projects of moderate to diverse complexity and scope. 

Applies procurement knowledge to execute a variety of common or moderate projects supporting client’s needs, strategic business goal of the function and financial objectives

Works independently within given area of responsibility (within defined guidelines, policies and processes)

Evaluates circumstances and is able to discuss issues and makes recommendations; gets advice in order to make decisions

Need to interact with local, regional or global counterparts (internal and external), up to mid-level (internally), to achieve desired results

May participate in procurement projects with cross-regional or cross-category focus

Strategy / Market Intelligence

Contributes to strategy execution

Makes proposals for topics to be considered in the strategy

Knows and understands the SAP corporate strategy and the strategy of his/her area of procurement

Conduct market analysis and track market trends

Sourcing / Negotiating / Contract Management

Demonstrates good capacity for sourcing, analyzing proposals, negotiating, contracting and evaluating suppliers in accordance with best practices for moderate business requirements

Uses the given processes and tools for bidding and contracting

Understands the LoB requirements

Executes sourcing projects on a local and global level according to established project plans

Negotiates new contracts or renegotiates existing contracts

Follows the given process and guidelines for contract management

WORK EXPERIENCE:

3 + years experience in purchasing 

Experience includes operational tactical buying, basic negotiating, reporting and analysis

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

University degree preferably in Business Administration, engineering or a related field

Knowledge of purchasing systems desirable.
