The Department of Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor for the Program of Biomedical Engineering to start in August 2018. The Department of Engineering at PUCP hosts professors teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in Programs of Biomedical, Civil, Electrical, Geological, Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Mining, Software and Telecommunications Engineering. The Biomedical Engineering Program is being offered through a partnership with the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, a higher education leader in research and teaching of Medical and Life Sciences in Peru.

The PUCP is the highest ranked private higher education institution in Peru and one of the 25 best Universities in Latin America according to the QS ranking. It is committed to promote tolerance and plurality, high quality of teaching, research excellence, and social responsibility. With more than 30,000 students, PUCP offers 38 professional careers, 57 master's degrees and six doctorates in the fields of science and engineering. Within the past five years, the PUCP has executed over 22 projects related to biomedical engineering topics in Medical Signals and Imaging, Biomechatronics and Rehabilitation, Tissue Engineering, and Clinical Engineering.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or related research experience. The position requires a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Effective written and oral communication in English is required. Ability to communicate in Spanish is encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

(1) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Biomedical Engineering (typically three courses per year).

(2) Develop an independently funded research agenda related to his/her area of expertise.

(3) Contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
