Salary Range:

$99,700 - $196,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

The Systems Engineering I department has an opening for a highly motivated R&D Systems Engineer to join a fast-paced, innovative and dynamic team as the Systems Lead. The engineer in this role will drive activities associated with the design, qualification, fabrication of the system! Responsibilities include interfacing and coordinating across partners, including the Air Force customer, production agency, Quality, and system components,

You will be a member of an engineering team that supports design and development of ND-related hardware through high priority quick-turn projects, and have the opportunity to play a crucial role in product realization, production, and post-production support.

On any given day, you may be called upon for:

+ Work with customers and component PRTs in development and verification of system and/or component requirements, including interface specifications.

+ Development of qualification and verification testing strategy

+ Coordination and collaboration with component design and production agency partners

+ Oversee review content

+ Present at technical reviews and/or customer/partner review meetings

+ Respond to and manage program requests and action items

+ Work with Program Management/Project Control team on technical impacts for project programmatics

Qualifications We Require:

+ A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

+ Experience working on ND or National Laboratory projects in engineering design, qualification, production, or related areas

+ Active DOE Q (or equivalent) clearance is required to start

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Master's Degree in Engineering or related field

+ Nuclear Deterrence (ND) program experience

+ Experience leading the integration of multiple components

+ Experience working with multiple Sandia and external customers

+ Experience with leading teams through the qualification and fabrication of systems

+ Experience with requirements development for components and/or systems

+ Outstanding interpersonal skills, including ability to present to diverse audiences

+ Ability to work well in a team environment

Organization 2431 is part of the Special Projects and Use Control group and provides diverse engineering expertise to support high priority, short-turn projects for Sandia's Nuclear Deterrence mission. We partner with other design, testing, and production groups across the laboratories to develop designs that meet customer needs and deliver on time. Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
