Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) is seeking someone to provide professional level support to a research laboratory within the Institute in achieving quality assurance objectives and quality standard implementation.

Job duties
-Interpret quality assurance standards and determine compliant quality system processes, policies, and procedures
-Devise sampling procedures for collecting and analyzing quality data; perform quality assurance activities for data collection
-Perform and document internal audits, and report audit findings to management, project, and product teams
-Review and monitor work product planning, development, execution, and risk management activities to ensure quality throughout product development
-Identify non-conformance issues and devise appropriate corrective actions
-Support on-site external audits
-Investigate opportunities for improvement in the quality management system and provide recommendations to management and internal working groups
-Conduct other quality assurance activities as needed to ensure compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years experience doing similar work as defined above in Job Duties
- Ability to analyze and understand technical methodologies and systems in order to monitor and review project development and execution
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills, excellent written communications and interpersonal skills
- Team player yet takes accountability for own assignments and actions

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with ISO 9001 standards, CMMI, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience in quality assurance, quality control, quality engineering, internal auditing, or system testing
- Working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and quality engineering and control techniques
- Ability to translate quality and regulatory standards to reliable and repeatable process in research and development environment (non-manufacturing environment)
- Working knowledge of product life cycle

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
