Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer -- ELSYS

Job Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer in the Electronic Systems Laboratory is part of an established team of experts in assessing quality management standards compliance, sustainment of organizational ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification, and determination of best practices for project management and product design and development. The QA engineer will research, develop, and interpret quality assurance standards and determine compliant quality system processes, policies, and procedures supporting the compliance of research activities for over 500 lab personnel.

Job Duties

  • Perform internal quality audits including project and product reviews to ensure sustainment of laboratory ISO 9001 certification and sponsor product quality
  • Review and monitor work product planning, development, execution, and risk management activities to assess compliance with standards and processes
  • Analyze and interpret quality assurance standards, industry, and government regulatory requirements, and determine compliant quality system processes, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Bachelor's and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree and Master's degree with one or both in Business, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of job-related experience
  • Experience working with ISO 9001 standards, Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, quality engineering, internal auditing, or software testing
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, quality engineering, and control techniques
  • Ability to translate quality and regulatory standards to reliable and repeatable process in research and development environment (non-manufacturing environment)
  • Ability to analyze and understand technical methodologies and systems to monitor and review project development and execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ISO 9001 standards, Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
    Certified Quality Process Analyst (American Society of Quality)
  • Experience in translating ISO 9001 quality management standard requirements into compliant quality management systems for research and development organizations
  • Experience in business analytics and evaluating the performance of work product quality, analyzing trends in performance indicators, monitoring operational status, and isolating issues in work product deliverables for senior management consumption 
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting lab-level websites and databases, facilitating and merging cross-group communications into presentations and actionable plans,
  • Experience administering internal audit programs for quality management

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
