Apply the principles of quality control and reliability to plan and design protocols for equipment and processes to manufacture employer’s auto products (parts, components and systems) meeting internal and external quality requirements. Also responsible for the quality of raw materials used in manufacturing. Plan, develop, execute and improve quality standards, methods and guidance for inspection, testing, and quality evaluation. Establish standards and programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of products. Monitor, test and inspect products to make certain that they meet specified standards. Plan and administer sampling procedures and develop instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Directs technicians engaging in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability. Inspect and test products to determine and improve their durability. Test product materials verify product dimensions, color, texture, strength and locate imperfections. Perform mechanical test to verify that parts will move correctly, and test the proper fit of components. Use data mining method and related software to gather and analyze manufacturing data related to product quality and based on the data to monitor and maintain the health of manufacturing machines. Utilize the knowledge of discrete event simulation and apply CAE software to create simulation model for analyzing quality control event. Apply the knowledge in time series analysis forecast on time series model to analyze and forecast potential quality issues and manufacturing risks. Apply design and analysis of experiment (DOE) to determine the relationship among factors affecting manufacturing, investigate the bottle neck of production line and develop resolutions to improve quality. Apply the theory of probability and statistics to analyze and investigate quality related data, and conclude the resolve method. Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup. Develop and submit PPAP (production part approval process) documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements. Collect feedback from customers about our product quality and act accordingly. Communicate and follow up with design engineers and manufacturing engineers in Michigan, China and Mexico regarding quality issues, including product function, capability, tolerance and materials. Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring. Maintain Control Plans and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) throughout the life of the part. Prepare quality control status report for management.

Requirements

Master’s degree or its foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

Completed a college level course (or 3 months experience in lieu of the course requirements) related to 1) Probability & Statistics for Engineering, 2) Discrete Event Simulation, 3) Time Series Analysis Forecast, 4) Quality Control & Reliability, 5) Data Mining & Machine Health, and 6) Design & Analysis of Experiment. Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
