The Electrical Models and Simulation Department has a job opening for a qualified candidate to work on a vibrant, high-productivity team developing leading-edge computational simulation capabilities for multi-year, multimillion-dollar projects in large-scale parallel circuit simulation for electrical and related network problems. You will work in an innovative, multidisciplinary team environment that conducts research in modern parallel computing, advanced numerical algorithms, and novel physical modeling techniques, and will help to promote the resulting research to production-level software!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Research, develop, and Implement numerical algorithms/techniques and develop compact models for electrical and/or related network simulation problems using advanced C++ object-oriented design that is capable of parallel execution.
+ Develop, integrate and support software solutions and methods in production simulation tools that target efficient execution on a variety of computational platforms.
+ Prepare peer review conference and journal papers

Required:

+ A PhD degree in STEM field
+ Experience with advanced scientific programming languages such as C and/or C++ and scripting languages such as Python
+ Experience with UNIX/Linux environment
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance

Desired:

+ Experience in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with emphasis on application-specific numerical methods
+ A demonstrated ability to develop and communicate ideas and results in oral and written form and to work in a team environment
+ Strong understanding of numerical algorithms for circuit simulation, including transient, harmonic balance (frequency domain), noise and various types of Uncertainty Quantification (UQ)
+ Strong object-oriented software design skills, including advanced C++ and Python programming skills
+ Experience utilizing component software libraries for scientific software development

Department Description:

The Electrical Models and Simulation Department (1355) supports electrical circuit and device simulation through the development of customized modeling & simulation tools for electronic design, analysis and qualification. The application codes (Xyce and Charon) developed within our department incorporate state-of-the-art numerical algorithms and validated physics-based models. These high-fidelity simulation capabilities are integrated into Quantification of Margins and Uncertainty (QMU) frameworks to support design variability, sensitivity and uncertainty assessments throughout the lifecycle of electrical systems.
