What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking experienced computer scientists and engineers to join our multidisciplinary team! This position will focus on systems integration, test, and deployment of large computer systems to support national security missions in a variety of high-impact areas within Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation R&D. Technical focus areas will include the following:

+ System verification and validation

+ Operational deployment and support

+ Test planning

+ Test design, implementation, and automation

+ Test platform development, verification, and support

+ Algorithm design, development, and verification

+ Data analytics and visualization

+ Computational science and mathematics

This position necessitates various interactions across the laboratory, including collaboration with partner organizations and partner projects. In this role, there is significant opportunity for leadership development, and you will be given the opportunity to engage in leadership development activities both independently and as part of the larger team.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Identify, analyze and provide solutions and alternate approaches to complex software and data analytics problems using individual creativity and judgment.

+ Apply technical judgment in determining optimal application of computational science practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality product

+ Develop and implement test approaches for large, complex software systems

+ Develop automated verification and validation techniques and technologies

+ Troubleshoot, configure, and deploy software systems for end use

+ Employ the use of modeling and simulation as part of a larger verification and validation strategy

+ Travel as required

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related STEM field plus five (5) years' experience; or an Associate's degree in a related field plus nine (9) years' experience; or thirteen (13) years' experience

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Master’s or PhD in a related STEM field

+ Proficiency in computer programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, or R

+ Experience in software design, engineering and development skills, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools

+ Experience with developing, testing, and deploying code in both traditional and cloud environments

+ Experience with agile methodologies and knowledge of Acceptance Test and/or Behavior Driven Development (ATDD/BDD)

+ Familiarity with automated verification and validation techniques and technologies

+ Experience using Gitlab and CI/CD pipeline

+ Experience with developing and implementing integration and test strategies across complex systems

+ Experience in machine learning, statistical inference, data mining, or cloud service analytics

+ Proven ability to perform as a strong individual contributor within a multidisciplinary team, and within the framework of a research project which shows evidence of meeting requirements

About Our Team:

The Monitoring Systems & Technology Center (6700) has researched and developed new monitoring systems and technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions involving nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.

Space Ground Systems Programs (06740) leads the design, development, and delivery of the operational ground segment of the United States Nuclear Detonation Detection System (USNDS). USNDS is a space-based remote sensing system designed to meet national security needs for both the warfighter and the treaty monitoring community, across the life cycle of these systems.

Security Clearance:
