R&D, Control Systems Architecture (Experienced)

We are seeking a R&D, Controls System Archiecture professional in our Risk and Reliability Analysis Department\. You would join a team of experts in the field and you would help lead meaningful research to our mission and help to improve the risks\. Are you up to this challenge? On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Lead research in secure control system architectures related to critical energy infrastructures including nuclear power systems as well as modeling and simulation related to these energy systems;
+ Perform risk related research to help make energy systems resilient to threats \(man\-made or naturally occurring\);
+ Support the management team in building a research roadmap in these areas;
+ Have the opportunity to engage with our government customers to help them define their challenges and build our program;
+ Travel to support this work\.

Required:

+ Master's or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science; or Bachelor's and 8 years relevant experience;
+ Programming in C, Python, or other equivalent programming language;
+ Proven experience working with control systems as part of your educational program;
+ Demonstrated ability to publish technical reports as evidenced in peer reviewed publications or conferences;
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance\.

Desired:

+ Experience working with digital control systems in a national critical infrastructure;
+ Experience with digital control system architectural design;
+ Proven experience with virtualization;
+ Demonstrated understanding of control system vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques;
+ Active DOE security clearance;
+ Strong inclination to improve the security of our national infrastructure\.

Department Description:

The Risk and Reliability Analysis Department conducts risk related work to high consequence systems including nuclear facilities, critical infrastructures, advance energy systems, and other national security related work\. Work in this department currently supports research into secure control system architectures, cyber risk related research, probabilistic risk assessments and analysis, fire risk analysis, and other risk related work\. The focus of the department's efforts is on research related to operational risk and risk analysis of high\-consequence engineered systems to various threats including cyber, kinetic, and naturally occurring events\. These systems include nuclear power reactors, energy systems, and international nuclear related cyber\. The Department's client base includes the Department of Energy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and other federal and non\-federal entities\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
