Salary Range:

$99,700 - $196,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking an R&D Electrical Design Lead to join our dynamic team as the Technical Lead for our current controller project. The team is in the final design stage for this component and will be transitioning to later development stages, and the Technical Lead’s expertise spans the whole range from schematics through system-level integration. The Lead will also help define the architecture for future systems.

On any given day you may be called on to:

+ Provide technical leadership for a tightly integrated team supporting current controller-related development, qualification, and production activities through the entire product life cycle

+ Understand component functionality, from ASIC and board design through system-level integration, and share that expertise with the broader team

+ Work with next-level assembly and subcomponent teams on requirements, testing, and integration challenges, including analysis of test results

+ Provide input on test, qualification, and production plans to ensure successful delivery of high-consequence hardware and software products

+ Provide guidance for structured problem solving activities when component failures occur, driving product and process improvements

+ Build your expertise to support the design and development of high-consequence digital designs

+ Satisfy customer and partner needs by delivering on commitments and managing expectations

Mentoring and training will be provided for the selected candidates. We value teamwork and want to help you succeed and grow as part of this crucial program. Occasional travel to customer, testing, and production facilities is required.

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM field plus five years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

+ Experience developing and delivering high-consequence products, such as those for military or aerospace applications, throughout the program life cycle, including one or more of the following:

+ Analog, digital, or RF integrated circuit design

+ Analog, digital, or RF printed wiring board design

+ Requirements definition, testing, and tracing

+ Qualification

+ Production

+ Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:

+ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

+ Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, including proven abilities in effective negotiation, delegation, and conflict resolution in diverse team environments

+ Familiarity with one or more of the following areas:

+ Design, development, test, qualification, and production of war reserve (WR) products, hardware and/or software

+ Structured problem solving

+ Subcomponent- through system-level integration and requirements definition and tracing

+ Ability to integrate ideas and work effectively across diverse technical organizations

+ Ability to balance multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities

+ Active DOE security clearance

About Our Team:

The Digital Design & Verification Department (Organization 5351) is responsible for design, development and support of electronic subsystems that manage the arming and fuzing functions for the nuclear deterrent of this nation. The department specializes in digital logic design, as well as integrating software to control and test real-time embedded systems. Current responsibilities include the design, development, and qualification of the Warhead Controller Unit (WCU) destined for the W80-4 Air Force Cruise Missile system. 5351 is responsible for the realization and qualification of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), supporting circuit design (both analog and digital), mechanical design definition, assembly, and supporting integration activities into the next level of assembly.
