What Your Job Will Be Like:



We are seeking an experienced engineer for test design and execution of projects in specific fields of electromagnetics and their effects! This position requires familiarity with and use of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures for electromagnetic systems, and their effects. In addition, this job requires responsibility for elements of technical projects or scientific research and includes assisting in resolution of technical issues, addressing evolving sponsor needs, presentation of results, and preparation of technical reports. Finally, this position requires familiarity with state-of-the-art EM testing facilities, including their operation and maintenance. For specific projects, this position would also require handling classified test objects and associate documents.



Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:





+ Supporting the design, execution, analysis, and documentation of electromagnetic experiments



+ Planning and coordinating daily pre-and post-test activities



+ Developing and implementing Engineered Safety, Work Planning and Controls, and following ES&H requirements



+ Teaming with test facility and project technologists to make sure logistical needs of the project are satisfied



+ Collaborating with customers to include aiding in the design, fabrication of simulator hardware, acquiring custom test and measurement setups, and arranging for external services such as Industrial Hygiene, Facilities



+ Meeting with visitors and leading tour of the facilities on short notices



+ Presenting to the sponsors on a regular basis

Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or STEM field



+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and higher clearances





Qualifications We Desire:





+ PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or STEM field with a focus on electromagnetics



+ Good written and verbal communication skills



+ Two years of RF testing experience including RF diagnostics (oscilloscopes, pulse generators, network analyzers, etc.)



+ Familiarity with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464C



+ Ability to work as part of a dynamic team with agile responsiveness to evolving priorities



+ Matlab experience (Proficient)



+ Design/drafting experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or equivalent



+ Labview programming and operations

The EM Systems Engineering & Qualification Department (Organization 01354) is responsible for defining and managing deliverables for the weapon systems electromagnetic qualification programs as well as development of new programs. The department works closely with Organizations 1352 (EM Theory), 1353 (Electrical Sciences and Experiments), Group 1340 (Radiation Effects Sciences & Applications) and collaborates with Centers 2000, 5000, and 8000.
