What Your Job Will Be Like:



We are seeking a highly motivated R&D, Test Systems Electrical Engineer to join our 7544-1 Team. Our team is highly proficient and multidisciplinary with skills in computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Be responsible for design and support of our product acceptance testers, which are a mix of custom design and commercial equipment. This work includes working in a laboratory environment designing electronic systems, characterizing instrumentation setups, and creating automated data collection systems.



+ Aid in the experimental laboratory research and testing of different kinds of power sources for NW purposes.



+ Perform data analysis and post-test processing using MATLAB, or other available tools.



+ Deliver results and report findings to team members and project partners.



+ Travel to various production sites across the country to perform tester certification or maintenance.





Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degrees in relevant STEM subject area, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.



+ Proven experience with hardware and software automated test equipment



+ DOE Q Clearance or DOD equivalent



+ Ability to travel, up to 25% when Qualifying Testers at vendor sites.





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Master’s degrees in relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.



+ Plus, five or more years of engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development to include:



+ Experience working with custom-built test systems (design, fabrication, certification, troubleshooting)



+ Experience with COTS battery testers (i.e. Maccor, Arbin)



+ Experience with modeling and simulation of analog electronic circuits (SPICE)



+ Experience with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or JMP.



+ Experience with automated test equipment (ATE)



+ Experience programming for NI hardware, i.e. Test-Stand or LabVIEW



+ Experience with NNSA complex product acceptance tester qualification process



+ Experience with software development in Visual Studio



+ Experience with drawing repositories such as Sandia's PRIME and PDMLink







+ Strong analytical, diagnostics and problem-solving skills



+ Self-motivation to work effectively as an independent contributor



+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment



+ Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead through others





About Our Team:



The Power Sources Production Tester Team (Org. 7544-1) oversees the development, qualification, operation, and maintenance of custom-built and commercial off-the-shelf product testers for thermal and lithium batteries built in the Power Sources Technology Group (PSTG) and at external vendors. Org. 7544-1 performs acceptance testing on mark quality products built by the PSTG and provides test support services to all battery development, production, surveillance, and system-level programs.
