We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for remote sensing and satellite systems projects. In this role, you will perform ground breaking digital electrical design of embedded hardware in extreme environments.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Work with multi-disciplinary teams for the research, design, fabrication, integration, test, and deployment of electrical components, subsystems, and assemblies



+ Work with diverse teams to understand, simulate, and test electrical components and systems exposed to the challenging radiation environments present in space



+ Collaborate on teams to research and design components, subassemblies, and systems that are resilient to these environments





This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.



Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field



+ Electrical design experience including processor board design (CPUs and/ or GPUs); high-speed network and interface electronics, high-speed analog to digital interfaces, microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, and/or FPGAs



+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing electrical systems, especially high-speed digital electronics



+ Familiarity with Hardware Design Languages (e.g. VHDL or Verilog)



+ Knowledge of the effects of extreme environments (e.g. radiation, thermal extremes, shock, and vibration) on electrical systems



+ Proficiency with space radiation effects in digital electronics (e.g. single event effects)



+ Familiarity with satellite programs and processes



+ Experience as a technical design lead on multi-disciplinary projects



+ Strong organization and planning skills and ability tackle more than one assignment at a time



+ Desire to learn new skills and develop expertise in new areas



+ Proven ability to be self-motivated and work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team environment, building consensus and resolving issues



+ Excellent written and verbal communication, project coordination, and social skills



+ Active Q or TS/SCI clearance

The Monitoring Systems & Technology Center (6700) has researched and developed new monitoring systems and technologies for over half a century. Building on that legacy, today we support national security missions involving nuclear proliferation detection, treaty monitoring, arms control, and various needs within the national security communities.



The Flight Edge Compute System (eFECtS) (6773) organization specializes in developing state of the art technologies for remote sensing in the areas of edge-deployed high performance computing, digital signal processing, remote distributed data processing architectures, rapid high consequence technology insertions for remote sensing applications, and remote sensing system engineering. The team focuses on missions that require autonomy and edge computing to reduce decision timelines creating a technological advantage for the intelligence community and the warfighter.
