We are seeking a R&D Systems Integration Electrical Engineer.

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join the Weapons Systems Engineering Center.

On any day you may be called upon to:

+ Work with a tightly integrated team to design, develop, test, qualify and produce nuclear weapon systems.

+ Develop electrical functional testing, acceptance and tester operations.

+ Conduct failure analysis, understand and solve component integration issues and ensure compatibility across multiple independent components.

+ Conduct requirement interpretation, clarification and verification.

+ Coordinate test planning and analysis of test data.

+ Support the overall development and qualification efforts of various nuclear weapon systems.

+ Work with engineers from multiple Sandia National Labs (SNL), Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Pantex (PX), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Navy, Air Force, Lockheed Martin, Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LANL) and Los Alamos National Labs (LANL) organizations to solve technical problems.

Onsite work (Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 80% of the time).

Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

+ Plus, (5) years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.

+ Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.

+ Position requires the ability to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Electrical hardware or software design or test experience.

+ Previous Nuclear Weapon System or Component experience.

+ Experience with system/product qualification, design definition processes and configuration control.

+ Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating initiative and leadership.

+ Motivation to work with a large integrated Systems team with broad interaction.

+ Must be able to apply strong interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse team ranging from skilled laborers to PhD engineers/scientist.

+ Demonstrated ability to plan and execute technical work.

+ Ability to negotiate competing requirements to give the best system-level outcome.

+ Ability to discover, understand and articulate constraints, options, paths-forward.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Commitment to operational safety, security and quality.

+ Active US DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD Top Secret clearance.

About Our Team:

The Weapon Systems Engineering Centers manage modernization for multiple nuclear weapon systems. The Centers lead the Laboratories’ efforts to develop integrated engineering solutions that maintain weapon-system-required military effectiveness and reliability while seeking improvements in safety and security. The Centers provide systems engineering, integration, qualification, and product realization expertise for nuclear weapon system modernization programs from concept development through initial operating capability. This organization’s current focus is to deliver on time and within budget the B61-12 LEP, W88 ALT 370/940, Mk21 Arming and Fuzing Assembly, W80-4 and the W87-1.

Security Clearance:
