What Your Job Will Be Like:



Do you want to work on a system that will fly in space? We are seeking an expert electrical engineer/sensor engineer to develop innovative focal plane array/sensor systems for remote sensing solutions. You will join a team with a diverse set of backgrounds in engineering and science (e.g., electrical, mechanical, optics, physics, computer science), with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully research, design, test and characterize sensor systems for satellites and other remote sensing applications. Join our multi-disciplinary team to support the development of new spaceflight focal plane arrays and other R&D projects!



On any given day, you may be asked to:





+ Develop new ideas, concepts or proposals to address project or customer needs



+ Lead activities to develop, test, and characterize electronics or sensor systems for remote sensing applications



+ Perform hands-on technical work in labs to accomplish project objectives and verify systems meet requirements for space flight



+ Lead small groups of people or small projects to accomplish significant R&D or technical objectives



+ Model and simulate electronic, sensor or subsystem designs and performance



+ Design or develop sensor characterization or electronics test beds, use software tools to develop tests and analyze data (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB or others)



+ Perform data analysis and interpretation, statistical error analysis, and information extraction. Formally document results and present results to the project, management, or customers





Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.



Qualifications We Require:





+ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field plus five (5) years' experience or a PhD in a related STEM field plus one year of experience



+ Experience with electrical engineering or sensor design, analysis, test or characterization



+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Extensive experience with analog and digital circuit design, analysis, test and troubleshooting



+ Extensive experience in the development, implementation and testing of sensor systems, electro-optical sensors and sensor electronics



+ Experience with laboratory instrumentation and experimentation, including experimental design, instrument control, and data acquisition



+ Experience using LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or other software tools for data acquisition and analysis



+ Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating anomalies and alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems



+ Knowledge of space-based payload requirements, radiation hardening, mixed signal microelectronic fabrication, and sensor test equipment and characterization procedures



+ Experience writing proposals for new technical work and interacting with customers



+ Proven leadership abilities



+ Proven ability to work on ambitious dynamic projects in a collaborative environment as well as work independently with minimal supervision



+ A record of professional achievement through high-quality product developments, technical publications, presentations, and/or patents



+ Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and oral communication skills.



+ Active DOE L or Q security clearance
