Salary Range:



$99,700 - $196,100



*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

We are seeking a highly motivated electrical engineer with an emphasis on semiconductor devices and radiation effects on those devices. You will be part of a team of computational scientists and semiconductor device physicists and will have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical expertise in a dynamic environment with complicated computer model design requirements, stringent code development quality standards and innovative computing architectures! Additionally, the position requires interaction with experimental and theoretical physicists and research engineers working on characterizing radiation effects in microelectronic devices and the resulting changes to circuit performance.

Qualifications We Require:





+ A Ph.D. in electrical engineering, physics, or related field



+ Experience in solid state physics and experienced in computational simulation of semiconductor devices



+ Experience with UNIX-type operating systems, as well as with an advanced scientific programming language, such as C++ or FORTRAN



+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance

+ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills



+ Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research



+ Working in a parallel, high performance computing environment



+ Advanced C++ programming and object-oriented design



+ Python programming and script design



+ Agile software development practices and quality software engineering



+ Familiarity with commercial TCAD tools such as Silvaco or Sentaurus



+ Making effective technical presentations and interacting with customers, sponsors, and partner institutions





About Our Team:



Sandia National Laboratories’ department 1355, "Electrical Models & Simulation", has the long-term objective of identifying and characterizing bit-level devices and circuits and their response to radiation in various forms. The department's goal is to impact mission critical electrical designs through high performance technology computer aided design (TCAD) simulation. The team emphasizes software design and model enhancement to extend the capabilities and increase the efficiency of our large scale, parallel, drift-diffusion solver—a C++/object-oriented program. Our research in numerical modeling of silicon and III-V semiconductor devices is directed toward large scale simulations on parallel, high performance computer systems. This entails device model and computer code development, as well as application of our device modeling capabilities to real laboratory mission critical systems.
