What Your Job Will Be Like:



We are seeking a R&D Nuclear Engineer to join our dynamic environment to work on various international and domestic security programs assisting with physical security design, implementation, training, and inspections!



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Use your nuclear engineering skills and knowledge of Material Protection, Control & Accounting (MPC&A) concepts, standard methodologies and procedures.



+ Implement nuclear security training and the development of capacity-building resources in support of international programmatic engagements.



+ Collaborate with NNSA Program Leads to develop and implement program/project plans for country specific engagements.



+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, including with external customers, multi-lab team members, and internal management, to effectively complete technical projects and planning.



+ Implement key priorities identified in studies that will help guide future directions/initiatives on projects important to mission objectives and customers.





This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.



Qualifications We Require:





+ Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field, plus six (6) years' experience



+ Ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Understanding of the physical protection methodology (DEPO)



+ Strong problem-solving abilities, self–motivated, and good time management skills



+ Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills



+ Technical experience in International Nuclear Security Program



+ Proven experience conducting advanced physical security training for NA-211’s International Security Programs; and



+ Experience working with NA-211 Program Leads to develop and implement program/project plans for country-specific engagements.





About Our Team:



The mission of International Nuclear Security Engineering (INSE) department is to improve the security of vulnerable stockpiles of nuclear weapons and weapons-usable nuclear materials worldwide by providing technical expertise to the National Nuclear Security Administration's International Nuclear Security (INS) Program (NA-211). INSE is the principal organization providing engineered solutions to physical protection system analysis, design, and installation as well as implementation of nuclear security best practices and technical exchanges for the INS Program. INSE is also leading the development and operation of the Integrated Security Facility (ISF) at Sandia National Laboratories. The ISF provides a unique venue for physical protection, nuclear materials management, and nuclear safety training, demonstration, and equipment testing/evaluation to domestic and international partners

Security Clearance:
