Salary Range:

$86,300 - $166,800 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

You’ll make a difference in national security and contribute to Sandia’s top-priority mission. We are seeking highly motivated, professional R&D Computer Engineers to join our team to develop, design, implement, and maintain strategies to lead R&D project teams.



On any given day, you may be called upon to:





+ Deliver technology solutions across the broad spectrum of ND mission data



+ Participate in front-end, back-end, database, UI/UX, testing, and architecture roles in an agile software development environment



+ Propose and participate in internal research and development efforts













Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience



+ A higher-level degree (MS, PhD) in relevant discipline may also be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree



+ Equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development







+ Software design, development, testing, deployment, and support experience in programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, Python, TypeScript or JavaScript



+ Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-Level security clearance









Qualifications We Desire:





+ Advanced (Masters or PhD) degree in Computer Science or a degree in related science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) field



+ Experience using version control tools such as Git in a configuration-controlled software development environment



+ An understanding of common software design patterns and architectures



+ Experience using testing frameworks such as Cypress, Karma, Locust, JUnit, or other testing frameworks appropriate to experience



+ Ability to utilize debugging tools, static analysis tools, test harnesses, and other capabilities to troubleshoot and fix complex software applications and libraries



+ Experience designing and implementing SQL and/or NoSQL databases as well as an understanding and experience with query languages and data mining tools for database interaction and multi-source data integration



+ An understanding of client/server, web-based, and server-side computing architectures focusing on metadata mining concepts



+ Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting for a common purpose



+ Experience using CI/CD tools such as maven, gradle, Jenkins, gitlab, github, or docker



+ Experience with agile testing methodologies and agile software development through Scrum, Kanban, or other processes including XP, test driven development, continuous integration, etc



+ Experience designing, implementing, or using REST APIs

Our team coordinates across Sandia and the Nuclear Security Enterprise to ensure the reliability of the nuclear weapons stockpile. We modernize nuclear weapons including the insertion of new technologies, we produce non-nuclear components at NNSA’s request to meet immediate needs, and we lead nuclear weapons integration efforts that enable the nuclear deterrence mission.

Security Clearance:
