R&D, Simulation of Microelectronics Devices (Experienced)

Albuquerque, NM 87102

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer/software developer with an emphasis on semiconductor devices and radiation effects on those devices. You will be part of a diverse team of computational scientists and semiconductor device physicists and will have the opportunity to leverage their technical expertise in a dynamic environment with challenging computer model design requirements, stringent code development quality standards and state of the art computing architectures. Additionally, you will collaborate with experimental and theoretical physicists and research engineers working on characterizing radiation effects in microelectronic devices and the resulting changes to circuit performance.

+ Ph.D. in electrical engineering, physics, or related discipline;
+ Experience in solid state physics and computational simulation of semiconductor devices
+ Experience with UNIX-type operating systems and advanced scientific programming language, such as C++ or FORTRAN
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance


In addition to an active publication record, experience with the following is highly desired:

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research.
+ Working in a parallel, high performance computing environment;
+ Advanced C++ programming and object-oriented design;
+ Python programming and script design;
+ Agile software development practices and quality software engineering;
+ Familiarity with commercial TCAD tools such as Silvaco or Sentaurus;
+ Making effective technical presentations and interacting with customers, sponsors, and partner institutions.

Department Description:

Department 1355 supports electrical circuit and device simulation through the development of customized modeling & simulation tools for electronic design, analysis and qualification. The application platforms (Xyce and Charon) developed within our department are built on stateoftheart research in algorithms & physics resulting in accurate, validated models. These highfidelity simulation capabilities are integrated into a QMUframework to support design variability sensitivity and uncertainty throughout the design, analysis, and qualification cycle.
