What Your Job Will Be Like:



The Sandia Enterprise Planning and Integration team is seeking an R&D S&E, Systems Research and Analysis analyst, to work within a team that builds and applies technical computer models that forecast future work for Sandia and produce management analytics. These analytics support the Nuclear Deterrents (ND) portfolio by providing decision support insight and business impacts. The decision domains include Sandia’s ability to support future work, adjustments to current work, how changes impact commitments of Sandia Labs and other Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) sites, and the timing implications of different stockpile scenarios and related capital investments.



On any given day, you may be called on to:





+ Learn Sandia business areas by interacting with SMEs and managers in many Sandia organizations to define and document forecasting strategies that will enable business decisions and have a positive impact



+ Participate in efforts associated with Sandia business workload forecasting; team with Design Agencies, Environmental Test facilities and Productions Agencies across Sandia to characterize future work



+ Collaborate with several departments across Sandia to develop, detail and standardize model parameters used to inform software algorithms that calculate and report workload



+ Partner with Sandia, NNSA and NSE sites staff and management to define use cases that ensure workload and capacity models provide valuable insights and address key business impact questions



+ Learn about Stockpile Planning, and how requirements translate into demand for Sandia and the National Security Enterprise (NSE)



+ Collaborate within Sandia and across the NSE to ensure that results from sites’ models can be compared and combined to produce an enterprise perspective of stockpile configurations under consideration



+ Participate in presentations to (Sandia and sometimes NNSA/NSE) leadership to convey project scope, highlight success, and articulate business transformation opportunities and costs.



+ Support management in refining project requirements, process and design documentation to effectively communicate customer needs, organizational strategies, and anticipated future customer needs



+ Discover new methods of illustrating data to indicate multiple dimensions and perspectives while revealing themes and explain key assumptions driving best solutions





*This position will primarily work on campus every day, with some telecommuting possible



*This position will potentially require some travel







Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science subject area and five years of relevant experience.



+ Ability to acquire a US DOE Q clearance





Qualifications We Desire:





+ Effective verbal and written skills to include communicating with multi-functional teams and management



+ Desire to engage and collaborate with others (both inside and outside department) to define and simplify the input and output of data models to drive speed and efficiency of analytics reporting



+ Passion for business improvement and shaping decisions based on timely insight from data and models



+ Experience with enterprise level data assumptions, data collection, analysis, and business analytics



+ Experience with creative organization and/or visualization of complex data



+ Experience creating complex MS Excel models



+ Experience in the Nuclear Deterrents (ND) business



+ Knowledge of the NSE - experience working with NNSA and with other sites within the NSE



+ Experience as a design or production engineer and/or project leader



+ Active US DOE Q clearance

The NW Enterprise Modeling and Analytics Department develops and integrates enterprise models for Sandia and NNSA and performs long range stockpile analysis. This organization develops and maintains NNSA models for scenario-based workload estimates and NSE-wide assumptions. This organization leads and conducts model-based analytics for Sandia and NNSA leadership to evaluate enterprise workload and capacity.
