What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about your work and dream of exploring innovative solutions?

We are looking for an experienced systems engineer to manage important technical projects that directly impact the resilience of the United States nuclear weapons platforms.

As a technical project lead, you will be the principal individual responsible for a set of related projects. You will work directly with the customer to define project requirements, and support the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) to produce project work. As a systems engineer, you will be a key member of a small team which is building a resilience-based capability to quickly and efficiently respond to the needs of our customer.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Lead small to medium scoped R&D projects to address new opportunities in support of current and future work in order to meet customer needs.

+ Maintain customer relationships both internally and externally to develop and execute new programs.

+ Work with line and program management to coordinate varied capabilities across Sandia and the NSE.

+ Lead small teams to ensure project objectives are delivered on time and within budget.

+ Test and validate technologies & applicable methodologies for ND systems to enable a predictable, flexible, and resilient system function

+ Work with group members to develop novel concepts and work with group members to develop novel concepts and articulate those concepts to customers and partners.

+ Travel as required to complete and support program requirements.

+ Qualifications We Require:

+ Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, etc.) and scientific experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform independent research and development.

+ Must have experience leading projects to meet customer requirements

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level, SCI, and a Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance that may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire:

+ Proactive customer-focused personality.

+ Experience with weapons technology testing and conducting demonstrations.

+ Experience working with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

+ Experience with multi-lab projects that involve the NSE.

+ Demonstrated experience in developing and managing projects and leading diverse high-functioning, multidisciplinary teams.

+ Experience developing technologies for either nuclear or conventional weapon applications.

+ Experience defining technical requirements from interpreted customer demands.

+ Familiarity with test execution and data processing.

+ Experience testing diverse weapons systems, writing test plans, test readiness review documents, and test reports.

Department 2454 is responsible for leading projects in response to warfighter-originated questions regarding nuclear warhead + platform systems. We leverage relationships from within Sandia’s Advanced & Exploratory departments and collaborate with DOE and DoD intelligence communities to seek integrated, risk-informed, secure solutions. Security Clearance:
