Job Description

The Counterproliferation Technology Program Office (CPTPO) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) provides world-class, forward-looking thought leadership and turn-key, best-of-class technical solutions to the countering weapons of destruction (CWMD) and improvised threat enterprise for U.S. Government and other sponsors. The role of this position is to evaluate and integrate technologies to develop solutions to counter current and emerging nuclear and radiological threats and address the nexus of technology and asymmetric warfare. The position may involve use of or development of state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools to perform critical analysis of system performance. Expected duties include: research and evaluation of candidate solutions, development of concepts of operation, and systems integration. Additionally, the position may involve field-based experimental/testing activities.

10% - 25% travel

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer II

  • A Master’s degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree in Nuclear/Radiological Engineering
  • Proficiency with MCNP, SCALE, and GADRAS
  • Knowledge of Python, C
  • Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research experience involving radiation transport modeling & simulation

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
