Research & Development, Electrical Engineer (Experienced)

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to plan and direct technical projects to execute tools and processes that enable the Electrical CAD (ECAD) / Printed Circuit Board (PCB) department to further advance the engineering services provided at the labs. The selected individual will aid engineers in schematic creation, serve as a PCB layout subject matter expert with a focus in RF/microwave circuits, make decisions in material selection and specification for all PWB products, make design for manufacturing specifications for PWB products, and provide feedback to clients. They will be expected to mentor and train junior staff. They will also interface between the ECAD department and clients, as well as execute strategic initiatives.


+ Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM discipline plus five or more years of experience, or equivalent:

- experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of the job
- engineering or scientific experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform independent research and development
+ Circuit design and board layout experience with RF/microwave circuits
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance


+ Ability to develop, document, and maintain engineering processes
+ Demonstrated ability to understand and work with a diverse set of technologies
+ Experience with Mentor Graphics tool suite
+ Knowledge and experience in material selection and specification for PWB products
+ Knowledge and experience in design for manufacturing specifications for PWB products
+ Proven ability to deliver large and complex projects
+ Knowledge and understanding of the NW engineering systems and the NNSA product realization process
+ Understanding of Electrical CAD applications, PCB fabrication, and/or software systems
+ Understanding of configuration management applications
+ Current and active DOE Q-level security clearance

Department Description:

Electrical Design Department is responsible for providing knowledgeable and capable resources to develop and create Electrical Computer Aided Design (ECAD) product definition for Nuclear Weapons (NW) and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) programs. The department's unique capabilities include design capture and physical layout of Printed Circuit Boards for both the analog and digital regimes, Flex and Rigid Flex Cables and Printed Circuit Boards; and, interacting with vendors to procure prototype circuit boards.
