What Your Job Will Be Like:



Our team is seeking a highly motivated Program Lead and Systems Engineer to lead our 5300 RF Enabled Cyber program area. You will become the lead of a multi-discipline, success oriented high-performance team. Projects range from urgent, quick-reaction requests in response to urgent real-world driven needs to longer term 3-5 year efforts. We develop end-to-end advanced communication systems for National Security applications in RF Cyber Security. These systems generally include highly optimized Size, Weight, and Power constrained groundbreaking signal processing transceivers, antennas, GPU’s, & SDRs. We develop our digital signal processing techniques and software systems with GNU radio, C++, python, and Javascript technologies. While we deliver, we continually explore new technologies and potential application to our systems. In additional to system development, we continually assess communication protocols for potential cyber-security vulnerabilities that informs system development.



Your primary focus will be leading RF system development across several teams, projects, and customer sets. This includes understanding customer needs, requirements, cost, and schedule. Then matching up against technical staff and teams’ capabilities and capacities and ensuring coordination of work to ensure end-to-end system performance and delivery by working with team leads and domain experts. The position requires on-site work in a collaborative electronics laboratory environment and classified SCI environment. The position requires occasional travel of 6-8 trips per year.



On any given day you may be called on to:





+ Interact with external customers on cost, schedule, performance of many projects



+ Manage requirements and coordinate associated deliverables across teams



+ RF System ideation of potential new applications and technology to customer needs



+ Lead internal research, develop, analysis of RF systems



+ Present technical overview presentations of RF Systems and their capabilities



+ Provide input into department, group, and center strategies.









Qualifications We Require:





+ Bachelor’s degrees in a relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience



+ 5 or more years experience in one or more of the desired qualifications



+ The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI-level clearance, which may require a polygraph test





Qualifications We Desire:



• A familiarity with DoD and IC organizations and associated systems and operations• Experience leading and managing teams with both waterfall and/or agile approaches• Breadth of knowledge across technology areas to include RF front end and digital systems, embedded computer systems, and software applications.• Enough technical expertise and depth to effectively interact and manager technical Subject Matter Experts in their respective disciplines and/or sub-components• Proven experience in interacting with internal and external customers and partners• Knowledge of RF, Digital Communications, Electronic Warfare, and Cyber Security systems and principles• Knowledge of managing sub-contracts and purchases• Experience in Systems Engineering to include concept development, requirement creation and management, and management of both development and operational testing• The ability and desire to participate in field tests• An active DOE Q-level security clearance and an active SCI-level Clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret and SCI-level Clearance

The RF & Systems Electronics Center (Center 05300) provides key electronics systems work to a wide variety of nuclear weapons, space, intelligence, and military programs across Sandia and the Nation. The Advanced RF Systems group (05330) supports the Nation’s technology superiority strategies by delivering capabilities for RF & spectral dominance, global highly reliable communications, and novel advancements for future strength. We are a highly dynamic set of departments that cross-team to provide integrated engineering systems solutions ranging from core research through prototype development and high-end, fielded products.The Advanced Systems department (05334) develops multi-domain novel electromagnetic attack & defense concepts and systems with an eye on low size, weight, and power constrained applications. Our customers include a variety of government organizations including the U.S Armed Forces, the Intelligence Community, and Special Operations. Our staff members have a diverse skills base including microwave circuit design, antenna design, signal analysis, digital signal processing, embedded software, and system designs comprised of the latest associated hardware. We partner across the laboratory and the group to bring on other critical skill sets to our multi-disciplinary team to include computer scientists, systems engineers, and cyber engineers. Our design challenges include system development (designing scalable systems, systems integration into host platforms, etc), understanding complex adversary systems and associated vulnerabilities, and signal analysis and generation of RF low probably of detect waveforms.

Security Clearance:



Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship.
