Job Description

GTRIs Information and Communications Lab (ICL) Communications Systems and Spectrum Division (CSSD) researches and develops military-grade wireless communications. ICL CSSD fuses multiple technologies including software-defined radio, FPGAs, LTE, circuit board design, 3D printing, and UAVs to solve our customers most challenging problems. 

The ICL CSSD Division seeks a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) who can help our research engineers develop adaptive wireless communications systems. A basic knowledge of RF PCB layout and RF lab equipment is key to succeeding in this role. Additionally, a positive attitude and strong work ethic can lead to career growth upon graduation. 

Task include but not limited to: work on advanced wireless communications areas such as: LTE, loT, or Wi-Fi; design, layout, and analyze RF PCBs; measure and analyze RF signals on oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer; travel to test events to collect RF data; work on documentation, drawings, and designs.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing a Masters degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Commit to 15-20 hours of work per week
Minimum 1-year experience with PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, Cadence, or similar)
Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in 1 or more programming languages
Experience with RF components such as amplifiers, filters, mixers, and detectors, as well as digital components such as microprocessors and FPGA devices

1520 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
