Job Description

Help and learn from our research engineers to develop adaptive wireless communications systems. Have you ever wanted to work in advanced wireless communications areas such as 5G, IoT, or Wi-Fi? The Information and Communications Lab (ICL) Communications Systems and Spectrum Division (CSSD) seeks a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) for the fall 2021 semester. As a GRA, you will get to learn skills in these areas to propel your career forward. If you understand RF PCB layout and RF lab equipment, then you have the basic knowledge to succeed here. We train GRAs with a positive attitude and work ethic into full-time employees upon graduation.

Your tasks will include: Develop software on software-defined radios, embedded systems, and servers. Work in an agile process using Atlassian tools. Work on documentation, drawings, and designs.

GTRIs Information and Communications Lab (ICL) Communications Systems and Spectrum Division (CSSD) researches and develops military-grade wireless communications. ICL CSSD fuses multiple technologies including software-defined radio, FPGAs, 5G, circuit board design, 3D printing, and UAVs to solve our customers most challenging problems.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Masters degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours)
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Commit to 15-20 hours of work per week
  • Experience designing and testing RF systems with industry-standard software (ASD, CST, HFSS)
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages: Python, C, and/or C++
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of applied elotromagnetics and digital communications
  • Experience with RF components such as amplifiers, filters, mixers, and detectors, as well as digital components such as microprocessors and FPGA devices
  • Experience writing documentation for complex systems
  • Experience with GUI development in frameworks such as QT or Flask
  • Experience collecting and parsing data from system tests

1520 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
