The Content Science team builds data science products and services for content creators such as artists, podcast and talk show hosts, curators, and programmers, to create the best-in-class curated audio catalog and programs, promote audio content, programs, and live events, and build personalized listening experiences for talk shows and podcasts. With billions of hours of listening to the music of hundreds of thousands of artists, you will contribute to understanding the variety, richness, and depth of our content, and its interconnections with content creators and distributors. We build a variety of products and services, both internal and external, to improve the experiences of content creators and listeners.

As a Content Scientist, you will be building products and services to identify, organize, and promote music and non-music content to hundreds of millions of Pandora listeners at scale. For this special role, we are looking for a machine learning scientist who shares our enthusiasm about music and non-music content and building cutting-edge services to power the next generation of audio products. Successful candidates will have significant expertise in statistical modeling and machine learning, solid programming skills, outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team with diverse skill set.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Enhance SiriusXM + Pandora’s content understanding capabilities using machine learning techniques
  • Research and develop personalization solutions using a variety of on-platform signals to power SiriusXM and Pandora’s music and spoken-word products
  • Effectively partner with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, scientists, and analysts


Minimum Qualifications

  • MS (PhD preferred) degree in a quantitative field or equivalent, relevant experience.

Requirements And General Skills

  • Expertise in a computational field with a strong background in general machine learning or natural language processing or recommendation systems
  • Ability to design, prototype and implement machine learning solutions
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics, and engineering
  • Ability to work in a team with diverse skill set
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Python or Java and experience with software development tools
  • Experience with SQL (or proprietary equivalent)
  • Familiarity with common machine learning libraries like scikit-learn and Tensorflow
