The electron microscopy group at the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated 

Scientist (m/f/d)
with a background in mathematics, physics or computer science (also Medizininformatik or Bioinformatik)

(E13 TV-G-U, up to 100 %),

starting March 1st, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter for a limited period of 3 years, the possibility of a PhD is given. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).

The goal of the project is to implement fast and efficient reconstruction algorithms of 3D medical objects from individual images. We have unique imaging capabilities to visualize the details of the interior of cell that help to elucidate the origin and cause of cancer and other diseases. Previous experience with GPU programming in CUDA is a prerequisite. Knowledge in C, C++ and MATLAB programming experience is a big advantage.

What we are looking for

  • You have a Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Medical Technology or a comparable course?
  • You have scientific experience with image and data analysis and the development of programs in the field of Machine Learning? You may have even worked with image registration algorithms?
  • Are you an expert in CUDA and C/C++?
  • And familliar with other programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB)?
  • Are you eager to work independently on challenging tasks in the field of Scientistmicroscopy?
