This role will be part of DEGs Foundational Security Team (FST) organization. It will support two organizations within DEG (FST and CSG SoC).

  • The Security Engineer, in partnership with the Security Privacy Leader (SPL), will serve as the focal point for bridging Security Architecture, Platform Architecture, and Platform Validation teams across the security IPs following Intels Security Development Lifecycle (SDL).

  • The Security Engineer will apply security knowledge, experience, and hands-on application to identify potential vulnerabilities in our designs.

The objective of this role is to establish and build trust in Intel products via security IPs using the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) to help drive high-quality security outcomes for Intels products. This position spans hardware IP requirements and works closely with FW and SoC organizations' SW partners. This role is open to varying degrees of experience and knowledge.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Conduct deeper technical assessment reviews at S0 to S3 stages.

  • Design and execute Hackathons.

  • Partner with SPL and other Security Engineers in leading SDL quality execution through reviews, assessments, and random checkpoints.

  • Monitor SDL Health indicators and ensure issues are resolved timely.

  • Collaboration with the Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT).

  • Assess current platform security assurance practices and risks in our security IPs.

  • Perform penetration testing and side-channel attacks.

  • Develop and drive implementation of frameworks to manage IPs security threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Advocate for security and privacy practices along with defining security solutions and developing and integrating security requirements into IPs and product definitions and implementation

  • Advance personal and organizational knowledge of evolving security and privacy principles, theories, attacks, and increasing expertise across CSG SoC and FST and external ecosystems of customers, partners, and suppliers.

  • Execute threat and vulnerability assessments for new IPs and products.

  • Oversee conformance of platforms and products to security and privacy standards and specifications.

  • Engage with other engineering teams to help judge and drive security and privacy risks mitigation.

  • Influence continuous security improvements through learning, knowledge sharing, and white papers.

  • Active contribution into FIPS 140-3 efforts.

  • Develop and maintain working partnership with Intel Product Assurance Security (IPAS) team.

  • Collaborate with architects to help ensure they look at best-in-class security architecture and provide competitive analysis

The successful candidate should have strong technical insight and expertise in security IP/technology, and have demonstrated expertise in:

  • Assess and respond to software-based, and physical attack techniques.

  • Identify vulnerabilities in complex system environments involving hardware, firmware, software, and cryptographic protocols.

  • Implement security strategies to mitigate security threats and privacy risks to help enhance Intels reputation

  • Mitigate existing security threats and privacy issues by anticipating attack techniques, attack surface vulnerabilities, and leading the development and implementation of countermeasures with internal and external stakeholders


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 6+ years experience; OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 4+ years experience; OR a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 2+ years experience in the following:

  • Security

  • Project management in IP or product development

  • Proven experience to influence senior technical contributors on ASIC, FW/SW etc.

Additional required qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the OSI model.

  • Domain expertise and experience in security development life cycle, and threats and vulnerability research for computing and networking architectures and platforms.

  • Experience with security technologies such as authentication, access control, cryptography, and security protocols.

  • Ability to span security expertise across Hardware, Software, and Firmware domains.

  • Become familiar with Intel's Security Development Lifecycle, threat modeling, mitigation strategies, and security assurance practices.

  • Applicants should have 3+ years of experience in the field of security research and excel in exploring software and hardware techniques as a method of attack against targets within computing systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, and an ability to work across organizations.

  • Willingness to work autonomously with minimal supervision

  • Willingness to take on projects as assigned and flexibility to support potential changes in priorities.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in Silicon Lifecycle Management (SLM).
Broad personal network of contacts in the networking and security community, including ethical hackers and academia a plus.
Security certifications preferred.

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
