The ideal candidate will apply data analytical/data science techniques including data cleansing, data integration, data mining, statistical models, predictive analytics, optimization, risk analysis, machine learning and data visualization to provide business insights and optimization. 

Build and test prototypes in MITRE or sponsor labs to demonstrate proofs-of-concept for data analysis capabilities, approaches and mission impacts.
 
Investigate systems that exhibit intelligence behavior to accomplish tasks that involve capabilities such as perception, learning, navigation, planning, and cooperation.

Assist in independent review and verification of contractor proposed architectures, methods, and designs.

Perform hands-on design, development, test and evaluation, and demonstration of advanced prototype software applications.

Apply state of the art techniques, using multiple programming languages and development environments to drive advances in mission capabilities for sponsor and internal MITRE projects.

Develop automated methods for ingesting large datasets into an enterprise-scale system.

Develop and conduct data science oriented research and prototyping.

Work across MITRE's broad sponsor base to identify and address challenges of emerging data science technologies, and help identify technology trends that can be leveraged to solve future capability needs.


Minimum Qualifications: 


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. 8+ years of experience as a software engineer. Demonstrated success in developing a variety of software systems while taking on increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation and deployment tasks. 


Preferred Qualifications:


Understanding of Big Data tools (e.g., NoSQL DB, Hadoop, Mongo DB, ElasticSearch).

Proven ability to interact professionally with a diverse set of clients and staff at various level of seniorities. Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.


Knowledge of SOA, IaaS, and Cloud Computing technologies.


Experience with applied data sciences techniques, including but not limited to, machine learning approaches, data visualization, and statistical modeling.


Experience designing and implementing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to convert diverse structured and semi-structured data to usable formats for processing.


Experienced in traditional and advanced software development lifecycle.


Experienced in performing hands-on, end-to-end software engineering from problem definitions, requirements, architecture, development, test and fielding solutions.


Software development skills in Java, C/C++, C#, Python, web frameworks (such as NodeJS, Angular, etc.), development environments (such as Eclipse, GitHub), virtualization technologies (such as VMware).


Experienced with developing automated build pipelines using automated test and continuous integration tools.


Strong writing, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.


Experienced with the development and acquisition of DoD, Army, or DoD Agency Information systems.


Experienced cyber security and secure software development background.
