Purpose and Objective: Ariba, Inc. seeks a Senior Developer at our Palo Alto, CA office location responsible for development focusing on design, coding, testing, and quality assurance of specific product features within a development team.  


Expectations and Tasks: Analyze and solve issues in existing and new code.  Demonstrate full responsibility for accepted tasks and demonstrate a high level of quality, speed, reliability, and efficiency.  Work closely together with other team members to ensure team success.  Enhance skills beyond own core functional focus and work on other tasks for the benefit of the team. Maintain overall product knowledge and share domain expertise within team. When acting as a Scrum Master in the LEAN context, responsible for ensuring that Scrum is understood and put into practice properly. Coach the Development Team in self-organization and remove impediments to the Development Team’s progress.


Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field of study and 6 years of experience required.  The company will also accept a Master's degree and 4 years of experience.


Work Experience: Experience must involve at least three years of experience the following: Java and Java based frameworks, including Lucene, Hibernate, Hadoop and Spring; relational database, SQL and query optimization; algorithms, caching, scalability and concurrency technologies; front-end development experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript; XML and Integration methodologies; writing and unit testing high quality code in a SaaS (Software as a Service) environment; Linux/Unix environment and scripting languages; designing and developing business applications with Tomcat deployments; Scrum methodology; build tools like ANT, Maven; and document handling libraries like Itext, Apache PO.


Travel: 10% travel required.
